PrintThe following sums have been appropriated: $17,000 for the system of international exchanges between the United States and foreign countries under the direction of the Smithsonian Institution; $40,000 for ethnological researches among the American Indians; $25,000 for fire-proofing the west wing of the Smithsonian Building and for repairing the roof and ceiling under the supervision of the Architect of the Capitol, with the approval of the Regents; $12,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service for the National Museum; $140,000 for the preservation of collections, including salaries of all necessary employees; $25,000 for furniture and fixtures of the National Museum; $500 for postage-stamps and foreign post cards; and $10,000 for printing labels and blanks for the use of the National Museum and for the Bulletins and annual volumes of the proceedings of the National Museum.
