- One-half of the following sums named, respectively, is appropriated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, and the other half out of the revenues of the District of Columbia, for the organization, improvement, and maintenance of the National Zoological Park, to be expended under the direction of the regents of the Smithsonian Institution. The following sums are provided: $15,000 for the shelter of animals; $9,000 for shelter and custody of animals; $2,000 for repairs to the Holt mansion; $2,000 for the creation of artificial ponds for aquatic animals; $7,000 for water supply, sewerage, and drainage; $15,000 for roads, walks, and bridges; $5,000 for miscellaneous supplies; $37,000 for the maintenance of collections, food supplies, salaries of employees, and the acquisition and transportation of specimens.
- The National Zoological Park is placed under the directions of the regents of the Smithsonian Institution, and the heads of executive departments of the Government are directed to render all necessary aid to the regents in the acquisition of collections for the Zoological Park.
