Summary

The following sums have been appropriated: $500 for the transportation of reports and maps to foreign countries; $50,000 for cases, furniture, and fixtures for the care and exhibition of the collections of geology, mineralogy, ethnology, technology, and natural history; $25,000 for a steam-heating apparatus and for fuel; $12,500 for water, gas-fixtures, and electrical apparatus; $1,000 for the construction of a relieving sewer; $20,000 for continuing ethnologic researches among the North American Indians; $45,000 for the preservation and care of the collections of the surveying and exploring expeditions of the government and the objects presented to the United States at the International Exhibition of 1876; $2,500 for the preservation of collections at the Smithsonian Institution, Armory building, including those transferred from the International Exhibition of 1876 and for transfer to the new National Museum.
