Office Memorandum 737, Use of "National" in titles for the Museum of Natural History and Museum of History and Technology

PrintOffice Memorandum 737, issued by Smithsonian Secretary S. Dillon Ripley on March 24, 1969, states that the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of History and Technology are now known at the National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of History and Technology respectively. Acquisitions formerly accepted in the name of the U.S. National Museum will be accepted and acknowledged in the name of the NMNH or the NMHT. The buildings which house these bureaus are to be known as the Natural History Building and the History and Technology Building.
