Summary

Memorandum of Understanding of November 5, 1989 between the National Park Service, Southwest Region, and the Smithsonian Institution relating to the quincentennary of Christopher Columbus' landing in the Americas This MOU outlines the relationship between the Smithsonian and Park Service in relation to the quincentennary and seeks to improve communications and cooperation between the two organizations as they seek to reflect on the impact of European contact on Native Americans. The original was signed by John E. Cook, Regional Director, National Park Service, and Robert McCormick Adams, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.
