Summary

  • The following appropriations are made: $50,000 for international exchanges; $46,000 for American ethnology; $7,500 for the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature; $15,500 for the Astrophysical Observatory; $20,000 for the National Museum; $70,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $312,620 for continuing preservation of collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; $10,000 for repairs of buildings; $2,000 for the purchase of books; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards; $15,000 for the administration of the National Gallery of Art by the Smithsonian Institution; $125,000 for expenses of the National Zoological Park; and $2,500 for the purchase of additional lands to become a part of the National Zoological Park.
  • Also $4,000 for the improvement, care, and maintenance of Smithsonian grounds; $20,000 for the printing and binding of the annual reports of the Board of Regents; $37,500 for the annual reports of the National Museum and miscellaneous printing and binding; $21,000 for the annual reports and bulletins of the Bureau of American Ethnology; $1,000 for the annual report and printing catalogues for the National Gallery of Art; $200 for miscellaneous printing and binding for the International Exchanges, $100 for the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, $200 for the National Zoological Park, $4,000 for the Astrophysical Observatory, and $7,000 for the annual report of the American Historical Association.
