Summary

The sum of $2,980 is appropriated for the preservation of the collections of the Exploring Expedition and for the compensation of keepers, watchmen, and laborers. The collections of the Exploring Expedition, now in the Patent Office, will be placed under the care of the Commissioner of Patents. The Commissioner is authorized to employ a principal keeper of the collections at an annual salary of $900, an assistant keeper at an annual salary of $750, one night watchman at an annual salary of $600, and two laborers at an annual salary each of $365.
