Summary

Secretary S. Dillon Ripley reported that a Search Committee for the Directorship of the Freer Gallery has been created. At the first meeting of this committee, the members discussed the need to enlarge the staff of the Gallery, develop a program of scholarly publication, increase temporary exhibitions and strengthen the relations between the Freer Gallery and other parts of the Smithsonian, as well as with the National Gallery of Art, other museums and universities. A mention of the fact that in 1963 it was held that an employee of the Freer Gallery was entitled to certain Federal health benefits. A financial report on the Freer fund and Consolidated fund was presented.
