Summary

The Regents recognized the death of Mr. John Ellerton Lodge, Director of the Freer Gallery of Art, on December 29, 1942. They also discussed the appointment of Mr. Archibald G. Wenley as Acting Director of the Freer Gallery of Art and approved Secretary Abbot's intentions to appoint him Director. A report on changes made to the stock portfolio of the Freer fund since it was established. A review of the Freer fund investments made over the past ten years. The changes and investments made prior to 1932 were also summarized but in less detail. The Permanent Committee recommended that some of the weaker bonds should be sold and higher-grade equities bought with the proceeds.
