Summary

This volume contains accounts of several memorial exercises for Joseph Henry and planning for a monument to him. It includes sermons, addresses, and tributes by Rev. Samuel S. Mitchell, Hannibal Hamlin, Robert E. Withers, Asa Gray, William B. Rogers, James A. Garfield, Samuel S. Cox, William T. Sherman, Rev. Samuel B. Dod, Henry C. Cameron, James C. Welling, William B. Taylor, Joseph Lovering, Simon Newcomb, and Alfred M. Mayer. The volume also contains a bibliography of Henry's work.
