Summary

A popular volume on the National Museum of Natural History, separated into chapters covering the evolution of the Smithsonian museums, collections, conservation, science, the public, art at Natural History, "a museum of earth, life, taxonomy," Natural History as a marine museum, and a Museum of Man.
