Summary

This bibliography of the writings of second Smithsonian Secretary Spencer Fullerton Baird, an ornithologist, museum administrator and U.S. Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries, is the first in a series of bibliographies of American naturalists. Opens with a biographical sketch of Baird, list of genera and species named in honor of Baird, and the bibliography arranged 1) chronologically, and then 2) systematically by taxonomic group. Contains list of species discussed and figured, and an index.
