Summary

General William T. Sherman is appointed to the Smithsonian Board of Regents in the place of Richard Delafield, who resigned. Sherman serves from February 2, 1871 to 1874, and March 25, 1878 to March 25, 1885. He had previously collected artifacts and specimens for the National Museum and sent weather observations to the meteorology project. As a regent, he served on the Building Committee for the U.S. National Museum.
