Highlights over a hundred years of Smithsonian collection of aeronautical and astronautical artifacts. Discusses the struggle to establish the National Air Museum and the subsequent legislation designating a National Air and Space Museum. A brief history of the Congressional debate to provide funding for the National Air and Space Museum building. Describes the design and construction of the new building and planning for new exhibits.
