Summary

Celebrates the reopening of the Freer Gallery of Art after extensive renovation, which included the construction of new facilities and collection storage areas, a tunnel to the Sackler Gallery, and the restoration of the Peacock Room. Chapters deal with the development of Freer's aesthetics and his collection, his travels, his relation with Whistler, and the construction of the building in Washington. Includes archival photographs of Freer's life and travels, and color images of the gallery's extensive American and Asian holdings.
