Summary

The Cultural Resources Center of the National Museum of the American Indian opens in February of 1999. Located in Suitland, Maryland, adjacent to the Museum Support Center, the CRC will house the bulk of the museum's collections and its research, community relations, repatriation, collections management and conservation staff. This innovative building, which includes ceremonial spaces for use of objects by Native American tribes, was based on concepts by Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates, and designed by Tobey & Davis, the Polshek Partnership, and the Native American Design Collaborative.
