PrintThe new Center for Tropical Paleoecology and Archaeology opens at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). The center is located in a renovated 1919 building that originally housed all of STRI. The center brings together researchers who are studying tropical environments and climates as early as 20 million years ago and as recent as human colonization of the New World.
