Summary

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute signed an agreement with Panama that will allow STRI to remain in Panama once the United States turns over control of the Panama Canal to the Republic of Panama on December 31, 1999. The agreement was signed by Ricardo Alberto Arias, Panamanian Foreign Minister, and Ira Rubinoff, Director of STRI.
