Summary

The Office of Architectural History and Historic Preservation is created to "strenghen and enhance the Smithsonian's interests and obligations in architectural history and preservation." Cynthia Field, formerly Smithsonian architectural historian, is appointed director, and James Goode, keeper of the Castle, is assistant director.
