Summary

An unmounted round-cut 5.03 carat red diamond, a bequest from the estate of the late S. Sydney DeYoung, is put on permanent display at the National Museum of Natural History. It is "the only diamond of its kind on view in a museum anywhere in the world," being one of only five documented red diamonds.
