Summary

A silver pen used by Secretary of States John Hay to sign the treaty ending the Spanish-American War is discovered missing from the National Museum of American History. One day previously the pen had been photographed, along with a number of other items, for a book. It is recovered by the FBI and returned to the SI on August 19, 1981.
