Felix C. Lowe, deputy director of the Smithsonian Press, succeeded Edward F. (Ted) Rivinus as director of the Smithsonian Institution Press. Rivinus ran the Press since 1974, and remained on staff in a part-time position to assist in editorial and administrative matters.
