Summary

Gloria Dean Whipple is severely beaten in an attack on the National Mall. Whipple had been serving as a volunteer monitor at an Associates' puppet-making class in the Arts and Industries Building and was walking to the Metro at 10:30 p.m., when the attack occurred. She subsequently died from her injuries on October 5, 1979.
