Summary

The SI's request to plan two new buildings on the Quadrangle as museums of African and Asian art is approved by the Senate. The House of Representatives Administration Committee approves the request on June 6. There had been a request for $500,000 to produce detailed architectural plans and specifications for the project, but this was deleted from the Smithsonian's fiscal 1980 budget by the House Appropriations Subcommitte on June 12.
