Summary

Former Congressman George H. Mahon of Lubbock, Texas, who had served on the Board of Regents since 1964, was named Regent Emeritus. Mahon retired from the House in December after serving for 30 years. It was decided by the Board, in light of his "long and faithful service to the Institution," Mahon would be invited to serve as an advisory member of Regents committees and to "perform other services as the need arises."
