Summary

The manned aerodrome built in the Smithsonian shops under the direction of Secretary Samuel P. Langley is tested. With Charles M. Manly aboard the craft, it plunges into the Potomac River at the end of the launching track. Two months later, another unsuccessful test is conducted.
