Summary

The first cable telecast of Smithsonian films, "Celebrating a Century" and "The Smithsonian Institution with S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary," are aired through arrangements between the Office of Telecommunications and the Appalachian Community Service Network. The film, "The Smithsonian Institution with S. Dillon Ripley" had received two Emmys in June 1979 from the Washington, D.C., chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
