Summary

The Multiple Mirror Telescope, a joint project of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the University of Arizona, is dedicated in ceremonies in Tucson. It was designed by SAO director Fred Lawrence Whipple using lenses donated by the United States Air Force, and is a joint federal-state project.
