Summary

While on a tour of the Freer Gallery of Art, Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira of Japan announces Japan's intention to give $1 million toward the construction of an annex to the Freer Gallery, an Oriental Art gallery. This gift is one of four pledged by the Japanese govenment, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a Japanese gallery, Asia Society, for a new headquarters building, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for international policy research.
