FY 1995 Recision Package Unveiled

PrintThe House Committee on Appropriations approves a recision package to offset FY 1995 supplemental disaster relief aid through cuts in FY 1995 unobligated funding. Although the President's recision package set the celing at $2.2 billion, the House Appropriations package targets $17.2 billion in cuts, including $50 million from Federal cultural agencies. Reductions earmarked totalling $31,012,000 for the Smithsonian are in selected planning, R&R, and construction accounts" including $21.9 million, NMAI Cultural Resource Center construction; $3.9 million, NASM extension master planning; $1.7 million, Old General Post Office Building planning and design; $2.15 million, "alterations and modifications that will delay 10 projects; $987,000, NMAI Mall museum planning and design; $500,000; NZP CRC road improvements; also $2.3 million, WWICS.
