An agreement is signed with the Heye Foundation on the transfer of Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation collections of more than one million objects from the native peoples of North, Central, and South America, The George Gustav Heye Foundation's collection will be transferred to the Smithsonian Institution where it is now part of the new National Museum of the American Indian.
