Summary

5,419 glass negatives from the Matthew Brady Studio are acquired as a group from the Frederick Hill Meserve Collection by the National Portrait Gallery. In FY 1982, modern prints made from the negatives, "produced in the technically correct nineteenth-century manner" were exhibited in a permanent gallery space, shown on a rotating schedule.
