Summary

In 1988, Vincent J. Marcalus is appointed Director of the Office of Information Resource Management and serves until his retirement in 1996. Prior to his work at the Smithsonian, he spent thirty years as the Director of Information Technology in several departments of the federal government. Prior to his arrival, Richard Lytle had served as OIRM director from 1982 to 1987, with Stephen Toney as acting director in 1987 and James Crockett as acting director from December 1, 1987 until Marcalus' arrival.
