Richard H. Lytle was appointed the Director of the Office of Information Resource Management in 1982. During his tenure he was responsible for modernizing the central computing systems, including telecommunications, and information technology. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Archives and Records Management and Smithsonian Archivist from 1969-1982.
