In his office in the northwest corner of the Natural History Building, W. Duane Hope of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, National Museum of Natural History, sits at a high-powered microscope which he uses to examine slides of marine nematode worms and with his left hand is pulling a slide holder tray from a slide holder tray box. On the table are slides in other slide holder trays and photos of worm body parts. Pinned to the bulletin board in front of him is a photo of a worm's body parts. Also on the bulletin board a portion of a map of the world can be seen. His research focused on the systematics, comparative and functional ultrastructure, and phylogenetics of marine nematode worms.
