Summary

• Present: John T. Towers, James A. Pearce, Stephen A. Douglas, James M. Mason, Alexander Dallas Bache, John M. Berrien, and Richard Rush. Also Present: Joseph Henry. Members not present were Roger B. Taney, William H. English, David Stuart, James Meacham, Joseph G. Totten, Rufus Choate, and Gideon Hawley.
• The Secretary informed the Board of the re-election by joint resolution of Congress of Rufus Choate and Gideon Hawley for the next six years. On the motion of Mr. Mason, the Board adjourned to meet Friday, January 12th at 10 o'clock am and the Secretary was requested to inform the absent members of the Board that the report of the Select Committee on the distribution of the income would then be taken up for consideration.
