  • Present: John W. Maury, James A. Pearce, Robert M. Charlton, William F. Colcock, James Meacham, Richard Rush, Joseph G. Totten. Also Present: Joseph Henry, William W. Seaton, Washington Irving. Members not present were Roger B. Taney, James M. Mason, Graham N. Fitch, Alexander Dallas Bache, Rufus Choate, and Gideon Hawley.
  • In the absence of the Chancellor, on the motion of Mr. Rush, Mr. Pearce took the chair. The Building Committee submitted their report which was read and adopted. The Secretary presented the report and final decision of James Renwick which was read and on the motion of General Totten referred to the Building Committee. The plans for finishing the interior of the centre building by Captain B.S. Alexander, U.S. Corps of Engineers, were presented and approved. On the motion of General Totten, two resolutions were adopted to accept the plans of B.S. Alexander and that B.S. Alexander will supervise the execution of his plan. The Treasurer, William W. Seaton, presented the details of expenditure which were referred to the Executive Committee. The Secretary presented his report of operations of the Institution for the past year. The Board then adjourned to Friday evening next, 28th instant, at 7 1/2 o'clock.
