  • Present: John W. Maury, William F. Colcock, Graham N. Fitch, James A. Pearce, and Joseph G. Totten. Members not present were Roger B. Taney, James M. Mason, James Meacham, Alexander Dallas Bache, Rufus Choate, Gideon Hawley, Richard Rush, and William C. Preston.
  • In the absence of the Chancellor, Mr. Pearce took the chair. Mr. Fitch, from the Building Committee, presented a letter from James Renwick stating the building encompased in Mr. Cameron's contract was completed and he could be paid. There was a suit pending between Mr. Cameron and a subcontractor and though the regents have no interest in the suit, they are party to it. In order to obtain further information this subject was postponed to the next meeting. Mr. Fitch also presented an account from Mr. Renwick for services from March 1 to June 1, 1852 as well as a communication from Mr. Renwick relative to his compensation. Mr. Fitch introduced a resolution to pay Mr. Renwick which was postponed until the next meeting. The board then adjourned to Monday evening, August 9, at 7 1/2 o'clock.
