Gary Sturm, a specialist in the National Museum of American History's Division of Musical Instruments, Christine Smith, a paper conservator at the National Portrait Gallery, Betty Walker, a secretary at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Lydia Paley, a museum technician in the National Museum of Natural History's Discovery Room, Martha Goodway, a metallurgist for the Conservation Analytical Lab, practice ice dancing at the National Gallery of Art's Sculpture Garden Ice Rink.
Historic Images of the Smithsonian
The group belonged to one of the Smithsonian's skate "clubs." The club practiced at the National Gallery of Art's Sculpture Garden outdoor rink in the winter and would learn the twenty defined ice dancing routines required by the United States Figure Skating Association.
