Summary

  • Winter Storm Titan hits the Washington, D.C., area with ice, followed by 6+ inches of snow, closing schools and most museums. The Smithsonian closes the National Zoological Park and all of its Washington, D.C., museums except for the National Air and Space Museum. The Washington DC Snowball Fight Association moves its flash-mob snowball fight from its traditional location at DuPont Circle to the National Mall, between the Smithsonian Institution Building and the National Museum of Natural History. The DuPont Circle area was too icy for the snowball fight.
  • DCSFA organizers listed: things that we'd like to remind everyone who shows up for our fun fight in front of the Smithsonian Castle: 1) Invite your friends! 2) Please follow any instructions given by the Metropolitan Police Department or the U.S. National Park Police. 3) Please respect the media when they're working, especially please don't target camera operators. 4) It's probably best to keep pets and small children out of the battle zone 5) This is meant to be fun! So play fair, DON'T THROW ICE, and wear any protective gear you think you need! 6) Pelting moving vehicles could cause accidents, SO DON'T DO IT! 7) Anyone who behaves recklessly is responsible for the consequences. Safety is important to us!
