Anna R. Cohen, Director of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) steps down for health reasons after 25 years at the Smithsonian. She first came to the Smithsonian in 1983 as director of "The Precious Legacy" exhibit that displayed Judaic treasures that had been confiscated during the Holocaust. As director of SITES, she developed the Museums on Main Street initiative and oversaw such exhibits as "Crossroads of Continents: Cultures of Siberia and Alaska," "September 11: Bearing Witness to History," and "381 Days: The Montgomery Bus Boycott Story." Myriam Springuel, formerly SITES Associate Director for Programs, has agreed to return to SITES to serve as Interim Director until a new director is selected.
