Daniel E. Appleman was a Crystallographer, in the Division of Mineralogy, National Museum of Natural History, and from 1989-1993, was Associate Director for Research and Collections, Office of the Associate Director for Science of NMNH. In this image, Appleman is studying a mineral specimen using an x-ray diffraction instrument in his office in the Natural History Building.
