Dr. J. Lawrence (Larry) Angel

Summary

Dr. J. Lawrence Angel (1915-1986), physical anthropologist, holding a human skull in his hands. He was one of the nation's leading forensic authorities and an expert on human bones. Additional skulls are resting on shelving. A sketch of a man is displayed. In 1962 Dr. Angel joined the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution as Curator of Physical (Biological) Anthropology. During his career at the Smithsonian he broadened his research emphasis to include forensic anthropology.

• Kjell Bloch Sandved of the Office of Exhibits, National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), at the commission of Porter Kier, then Director, NMNH, prepared these photographic materials to document personnel and activities of NMNH in 1975. They also document the October 1975 visit of Emperor Herohito of Japan.
