Summary

After successfully giving birth to a Giant Panda Cub on Friday, August 23, 2013, Mei Xiang gives birth to a second cub at 7:29 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013. Keepers at the National Zoo examined the cub as soon as possible and soon realized the cub was stillborn. Not realizing that Mei Xiang had given birth to a second cub, keepers initially feared that this was the first cub. However, after a few minutes, they heard the cries of the cub born on the day before that she had tucked safely under her arm.
