Summary

John Alexander Pope (b. 8/4/1906- d. 9/18/1982) becomes director of the Freer Gallery of Art. He retires as director in August 1971, but remains with the Gallery as director emeritus and specialist in Far Eastern ceramics. He dies in September 1982.
