Notes

Charles Fuller Baker spent most of his career as a teacher of agronomy and agriculture, but he maintained a steady interest in entomology which he indulged at every opportunity. Trained at Michigan Agricultural College, he taught for several years in Colorado, Alabama, and Missouri before going to California where, in 1903, he obtained an M.S. degree at Stanford. After a brief stay at Pomona College, Baker did further teaching and field work in Cuba and Brazil, returned to Pomona for several more years and, in 1913, became a professor of agriculture at the University of the Philippines. In 1918, he became Dean of that university's College of Agriculture, a post he retained until his death in 1927. While Baker's entomological studies were avocational, he strived to make a significant addition to the United States National Museum, to which his collection passed at his death. This image can be found in a booklet created for his memorial in in 1927.
