- Plummers Island is a small (12-acre) wooded island in the Potomac River in Montgomery County, Maryland.
- The island was purchased by the Washington Biologists' Field Club in 1908. Formed in 1900, the Washington Biologists' Field Club is composed of persons interested in the biological sciences and in the promotion of research on the fauna and flora of the District of Columbia area. Bartsch was elected to the Washington Biologists' Field Club in 1913.
