Summary

  • The Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies publishes the first issue of Smithsonian in Your Classroom, a reformatted continuation of Art to Zoo, a printed teachers' guide published twice per year and distributed to every elementary and secondary school in the United States at no cost. The guide makes Smithsonian collections, exhibitions and expertise available for classroom instruction through illustrated lesson plans aligned with national and state standards.
  • The publication is a continuation of from Art to Zoo, published from March 1976 to January/February 1997 by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, later renamed the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies.
