A female visitor with a guidebook in hand stands in front of an elaborate cameo vase. Paintings and art objects are on display in the National Gallery of Art, later the National Collection of Fine Arts and now the Smithsonian American Art Museum, when it was located in the United States National Museum, now the Natural History Building.
