Summary

A clipping of the poem "The Sea is Thine, and Thou Madest It," by William Healy Dall. The poem was published in Christian Register on December 14, 1899, but was written by Dall while traveling on the Bering Sea in July of 1899. Dall was a member of, and later led, the Western Union Telegraph Expedition through Alaska from 1865-1868. Dall also was a malacologist with the United States Geological Survey from 1884 to 1925, and served as honorary curator of mollusks at the Smithsonian Institution's United States National Museum from 1880 to 1927.
